Dom Pedro Pinhal Golf Course is a par 72 course and it is actually the second oldest in Vilamoura, dating back to 1976. In 1985 Robert Trent Jones was the one responsible for remodeling Pinhal. As suggested by the name, you will find numerous pine trees, which line most fairways, including some nearer the greens, making this a scenic, pleasant course to play. That's why Pinhal is a great course for the summertime since it has an abundance of shade. In fact, the 2nd hole has a pine tree right in the middle of the fairway, about 64 meters from the front of the green, and, on top of that, you'll have to try and miss the two bunkers that protect it. Hole 6th is a par 4, stroke 2 that will put to the test your accuracy with a narrow fairway and two bunkers on the right, which you will also have to avoid. The 16th hole is a par 5 stroke 1 with an uphill fairway plus a blind drive and second shot, with the added difficulty of two bunkers on each side. The 18th hole is what you call a true card wrecker. It is a difficult par 4 with a fairway that starts uphill, making the green invisible from the tee. The downhill approach with three deep bunkers and a very narrow green entrance is a tricky adventure you'll have to face on this one. Overall this is a long and very strategic course and one where you will have to make use of your best tactics to make a good second shot on most holes – sometimes it is preferable not to land that shot too much in the middle of the fairway in order to make the next one slightly easier. A true challenge this course, anything but boring! Once you've finished your golf, why not head towards Vilamoura center with its bustling marina and a wide choice of restaurants and bars where to hang out with your mates or the family. Away from the marina, you will find Parky's Bar and Chez Carlos Restaurant, renowned establishments in the area among golfers for over 20 years now. (...)
Vale do Lobo Ocean golf course is a par 73 and presents itself with some of most spectacular views, on any golf course in Algarve. The front and back nine had some of the nicest layouts of an Algarve golf course. A long opening hole, then followed by the introduction of water required careful plotting. A fantastic golf hole awaits you on the 9th with a sequence of waterfalls flowing from the left of the green along side of the fairway. Back nine runs back and forth to the Ocean and marvelous white sandy beaches, part of Vale do Lobo golf resort. Some really nice holes before a tough hole back to the club house with an amphitheater green. A well worth Vale do Lobo golf course to play any time of the year in Algarve. (...)
A Sir Nick Faldo design golf course opened in 2008 which runs side by side with sister golf course design by O’Connor. A big up and down golf course with elevated greens. The greens at Faldo golf course are not very big and are very fast, you will also find lots of bunkers. Faldo golf course would suit players with a medium and medium low handicap and is a very friendly golf course for ladies golfers enabling them to enjoy a shorter distance of 1.155mt off the yellow tees. Sir Nick Faldo design a nice golf course, that becomes more enjoyable, second or third round as you learned how to avoid the hidden traps. With beautiful views to the countryside, of the Algarve inland, you will see here cacti, wild herbs and olive trees, Sir Nick Faldo's golf course, leaves any player willing to come back and challenge that golf course again. The first hole describes these course, very opened fairway and with big greens. This golf course would suit players with a medium or medium low handicap and is a fairly friendly golf course for ladies enabling them to enjoy a shorter distance with 697m between the red and yellow tees.
