The first tournament of 2023 FPG Circuit took place at Montado golf course
The first tournament on 2023’s FPG Circuit took place last weekend on the Montado golf course, in the Lisbon region, and it was won by Tomás Melo Gouveia, while João Miguel Pereira and Constança Mendonça were the best of the amateurs. In Medal Net, Diogo Salgueiro and Amélia Gabin shined.
Tomás Melo Gouveia won the first tournament on the Portuguese Golf Federation Circuit 2023 with a total score of 134 (-10) after scoring 66 in the second round.
The victory was decided by a birdie made on the 18th hole, a par 3 with an island-like green which Tomás Melo Gouveia, was able to achieve while Pedro Almeida, who led after the first round and with whom he was tied after 35 holes, made only a par, placing him in second place overall with 135 strokes (-9). Tomás Bessa came in third with a total of 136. (-8).
Tomás Melo Gouveia received a prize of 1,700 euros, while Pedro Almeida collected 1,100 and Tomás Bessa was awarded 900.
João Miguel Pereira, who placed fourth overall, was the champion of the male amateurs, with a score of 140. The best of the female amateurs was Constança Mendonça, with a result of 151 strokes (+7).
Men’s Medal Net winner Diogo Salgueiro beat Bernardo Tito Martins and Luís António Silva, while women’s Medal Net champion Amélia Gabin tied with Sara Rolita Melo and Maria Francisca Salgado but benefited from the fact that she had a lower handicap.
The next event on the FPG Circuit will take place at Ribagolfe Lakes, on the 1st and 2nd of April. Three more tournaments follow on other stunning Portuguese golf courses: at Quinta do Vale (June), Oporto Golf Club (September) and Aroeira Pines Classic (November).
