The Golf Society was invited to the Carnival Tournament at Castro Marim, by the association of the Guadiana, where all the players had an excellent offer for : green-fee, buggy and lunch.
Even though it rained all week, we had a dry but cold golfing day.
Although some parts of the fairways were quite wet we played according to winter rules. However, the greens were in great condition, surprisingly fast for the weather conditions we have had over the last few weeks.
António Cavaco, Castro Marim director, and some of the guests took part in our sweep.
The results were not very impressive, maybe due to the cold weather. António Cavaco won, with 35 points, Dave Duerden came in second, with 31 points and Carlos Ferreira in third place, with 30 points.
António Cavaco also won the nearest-the-pin played on the old 17th hole, which he failed to birdie, from 2m.
For lunch we had starters of an excellent vegetable soup, followed by roast chicken, and fruit pie. Complimented with good white and red wines.
The ladies received polo shirts and António Cavaco also give away ball markers for all players.
It was an exceptional Saturday with great company.
