Players from a variety of golf clubs came together to celebrate the shared vision of advancing the sport’s evolution at the event. In addition, authorities from Mijas Town Hall gave their support to the event at Chaparral Golf Club, underscoring its importance to the community support of the sport in general.

All greens, bunkers, and short game areas of the course will be tackled. The driving range roof and lighting will also be renovated. The work should be concluded by next spring.

The 22nd Alps Tour season will have three important tests being held in Spain: the Alps de Las Castillas, the Alps of Andalusia, and the Fred. Olsen Alps de La Gomera, where the 5 players who will be able to play the Challenge Tour next year will be determined.

“We believe that the Alps Tour is a circuit in which you learn to compete and much more, to prepare, to manage, to travel, and so on, and the careers of these great players bear that up”, says Jaime Salaverri, president of the RFEG Professionals Committee.

The Alps de las Castillas, the first Spanish stop on the Alps Tour, will be held at Palomarejos Golf, in Talavera de la Reina.

“There have been excellent players who have gone on to succeed worldwide from the 11 years of partnership between the Castilla La Mancha and Castilla León Federations”, states the host president, Carlos Gutiérrez.

The Alps Tour will then head to Isla Canela Links in May to celebrate the Alps of Andalusia.

“The Royal Andalusian Golf Federation (RFAG) maintains its support for the Alps Tour not only to see the emergence of the great golf stars, but also to attract young players to the golf courses of Andalusia, where there is much more to do than golf and they like it”, said Pablo Mansilla, the president of the federation.

“After 12 years of backing the Alps Tour, the RFAG is happy with the outcomes”, concluded Pablo Mansilla.

The Fred. Olsen Alps of La Gomera at Tecina Golf, in the Canary Islands, is the third and final Spanish event.

“Our journey has witnessed the beginning of great players worldwide and we continue to bet on professional golf. Whoever wins at Tecina Golf is going to have a great career ahead of them”, says Cousins Pusnik, Fred. Olsen’s asset manager and director of Tecina Golf.

On April 19–22, Palomarejos Golf will host the Alps de Las Castillas, while on June 14–17, Isla Canela Links will host the Alps de Andalusia. Finally, on July 12–15, Tecina Golf will host the Alps of La Gomera. All of them will have the support of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation.

With its revival in 2016, the Spain Golf Tour has become an annual event, and recently the PGA of Spain held the 8th annual presentation at the Consejo Superior de Deportes.

A video recapping the highlights of the 2022 season was shown at the presentation, and Pablo Larrazábal gave a message saying that the first tournament on the circuit will be held at the Real Club de Golf El Prat at the start of April.

One of Seve Ballesteros’ goals was to create this circuit so that Spanish pros may participate and train for the major European tournaments. Ander Martínez, president of the Spanish PGA, said that the PGA “tries to choose courses developed by Ballesteros” to honour his legacy.

“Once again we come to offer a circuit that continues to develop and that will add eleven tournaments in 4 regions (Catalonia, the Basque Country, Madrid, and Castilla-y-León), the biggest number of events since the competition returned in 2016. And with the help of Turismo Centro de Portugal, they’ll be able to host 3 international competitions in Portugal”, he adds.

This year, three tournaments will be held in Portugal, two of them at Bom Sucesso golf course, located in Óbidos, north of the capital.

The PGA Spain Golf Tour 2023 schedule will feature 11 events, the most in 8 years, starting with Pablo Larrazábal’s second PGAe Open de Barcelona on RCG El Prat, which overlaps with the season’s first Major, The Masters.

The circuit will continue with the XVII PGAe Doubles Championship, which will be held at Izki Golf, a public course designed by Seve Ballesteros that features a layout of wide fairways surrounded by oaks and holly trees.

At the end of April, the circuit will head to Lisbon for the II Open Bom Sucesso PGAe, and Viseu, for the I Open Montebelo PGAe, one of the new events, which will be contested from May 5 to 7.

The 50th Anniversary of the Lomas-Bosque Golf Club in Madrid will serve as an unbeatable setting to celebrate the Madrid Professional Championship. And almost at the end of June, another course by Ballesteros, Meaztegi Golf, will be the setting for the II Bizkaia PGAe Open.

After the summer break, the IV Portugal-Spain Iberian Cup, in Bom Sucesso; the II Castilla y León Championship, in Entrepinos; the RFEG Professional Spanish Championship and the Circuit Grand Final will arrive, in which the top 40 of the National Ranking will participate.
