The GJG Algarve Juniors International wrapped up with incredible performances by Portugal’s own Francisco Reis and Francisca Salgado, who dominated their categories and secured impressive wins at the beautiful Quinta do Vale Golf Resort in Castro Marim. From start to finish, these rising stars showed the world what they’re made of.
In the U14 division, Francisco Reis (Vilamoura) was unstoppable. His final round of 69 (-3) brought his total to an even-par 216, giving him a stunning 19-shot lead over his teammate Martim Johansen (Vilamoura). It wasn’t just about his category either—Francisco’s score earned him second place overall, just behind U18 winner Kayden Chang from the Netherlands, who finished with a solid 210 (-6).
On the girls’ side, Francisca Salgado (Vale de Janelas) delivered a masterclass in golf. Her final round of 70 (-2) was the lowest score of the entire tournament across all categories! With a total of 223 (+7), she left Finland’s Liris Ahti trailing by 14 strokes and claimed first place overall among all female competitors. Her incredible performance also earned her a spot in the prestigious World Amateur Golf Ranking.
