For those holidaying in the Algarve, The 27th “Sweet Art” (Arte Doce) Confectionery Fair and Competition was a great opportunity to admire and taste the many fine examples of Portuguese regional sweets on display. There was also demonstrations of the skills and craftsmanship involved in the creation of these delicious delicacies. Musical entertainment was also provided.

Lagos, which translates literally as ‘lakes’ from the Latin lacobrica, is on the western Algarve. This is an ancient maritime town, with more than 2000 years of history, which was central to the Portuguese Age of Discovery, from the 15th century.
