Algarve Nature Week is a promotional event entirely devoted to nature tourism in the Algarve. During the event, there will be special offers available on more than 90 outdoor activities and 8 accommodation facilities, some of which enjoy a rural setting. This aim of this new event, which will be held for the first time between the 11th and the 19th of April 2015, is to draw attention to the Algarve’s natural beauty. So, how will it work? Well, to start with, there will be plenty of action for everyone who enjoys active holidays in unspoiled surroundings. And when we say plenty, we really mean plenty!

For nine days the event will be offering walks, birdwatching, dolphin and whale watching, boat trips, cycle outings, horseback and donkey outings, and even airborne and underwater activities. All at friendly prices so that you can take advantage of (almost) all the activities on offer.

Golf in Algarve is also an excellent way of experiencing the nearby pristine nature with wonderful inland and sea coast landscapes, where the courses are beautifully integrated, regarding the fauna and the flora.

Organised by the Região de Turismo do Algarve (Algarve Tourism Board) with support from Turismo de Portugal and in partnership with seven different bodies, the event also includes an exhibition at Faro’s waterfront park, the “Parque Ribeirinho”. The exhibition will be taking place from the 17th to the 19th of April, and various companies that operate in nature tourism in the Algarve will be exhibiting. This is a great opportunity to get to know them and discover the programme of experiences that they have created for you. Admission is free.

The Algarve, Europe’s leading golf destination, is celebrating after being awarded the prestigious title of ‘Best Value Golf Destination’ in the 2015 Today’s Golfer Travel Awards.

The award, which is voted for by the readers of Today’s Golfer magazine, returns to the Algarve for the third time in four years, following previous wins in 2012 and 2013.

The picturesque region, which contains 41 courses and provides more than a million rounds to overseas golf visitors each year, saw off competition from across Europe to scoop the accolade.

A spokesperson for ATA (Algarve Turism Association) said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised once again as Europe’s best value golf destination, particularly as the Today’s Golfer awards are voted for exclusively by golfers.

To win the ‘Best Value’ prize also really demonstrates how highly UK golfers rate the Algarve – not only for the quality of our destination but for the great value they get whenever they visit.

The elite of the national amateur golf had its first major summit last weekend 17-18th January 2015 at the Penina Hotel & Golf Resort in Portimão, Algarve, which was the first of the six tournaments Liberty Seguros circuit (LS) and that the Portuguese Federation golf will host in 2015.

The Sir Henry Cotton Penina Championship Golf Course was a fabulous venue to open the calendar at the highest level, having been one of the preferred courses of the Open de Portugal, the last time in 2006.

The overwhelming majority of top amateur players competed in the Algarve and the tournament attracted 60 male and 12 female players.

In the women’s tournament, the final results were:

The 1st Liberty Seguros Tournament was one of the main stages of preparation for the International Amateur Championship of Portugal, taking place at Montado Hotel & Golf Resort in Palmela.
