El Paraíso Golf Club

El Paraíso Golf Club, a course opened to play in 1973 that has the distinction of having been designed by Gary Player, is one of the few clubs on the Costa del Sol that is run by its members. Its general director, David Ramos, has weathered difficult moments in the club’s recent history such as the financial crisis of 2008 and, despite the current complex situation and the uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, he is betting on uniting efforts and provide resources for the maintenance of the golf course.

To achieve this ambitious goal, the club has opted for the incorporation of José Luis González Córdoba as the new head greenkeeper of El Paraiso golf course, the hiring of SURTEC Golf Agronomy engineering and the support of Steven McFarlane, senior designer at Gary Player Design.

“It is essential to have the assistance and judgment of a professional designer for actions such as the renovation of greens, tees or bunkers: in this way we preserve the identity of the original design and the Gary Player Design seal. Also for the new definition of ‘fairways’ and the creation of native areas, actions included within the naturalization process of the course that we have started; since it assures us that the rhythm of the game will not be affected ”, concludes David Ramos.
