Notable performances included Irene Baamonde from Spain and Portuguese golfer Carlos Fonseca, who secured second and third place in the net category. The gala dinner at the Casino de Vilamoura was a vibrant conclusion, featuring the distribution of 36 trophies and a dazzling Joy Play performance. The Portugal Open Tournament is one of the oldest and therefore most emblematic of the European calendar. When the European Tour was born in 1972, the Portuguese Open had been in existence since 1953 and was soon one of the founding events of the European first division.
From that first edition until 2010, it wasn’t played in 1957, 1965, 1970, 1980 and 1981, and was absent from 2011 to 2016, returning in 2017 as a Challenge Tour event to Morgado Golf Course, a NAU Hotels & Resorts golf course in Portimão, west Algarve.
The Portuguese event returns to Morgado Golf Resort for a third successive season as the tournament moves to the crunch end of the season with action taking place from September 12-15.

In October, Vilamoura receives the world’s greatest to take part in Portugal Masters.
