Will be Miguel Angel Jimenez vice captain?

Miguel Angel jimenezMiguel Angel Jimenez, the player from Malaga who turned 50 on January 5th , has revealed that he would accept to be one of the vice captains Paul McGinley at the next Ryder Cup to be held at Gleneagles but his real goal is to be the month of September as a team player .

“If I play well I think I’ll be on the team” , said in Durban, the Guadalhorce golf course designer , where he is contesting the Volvo Golf Champions after his victory in the Hong Kong Open last December. “It’s very difficult to maintain a high level , but if my game helps I can be there…” added the Malaga player whose last appearance as Ryder was at Celtic Manor in 2010.

The spanish golfer confessed, he had a conversation with McGinley . “We had a few words and he wants me to be the captain in the EurAsia Cup ‘ll do that and if I’m not on the Ryder Cup team , I’ll probably be helping in Gleneagles . But my intention is to keep working hard on my game because I’d be there with bats in their hands. ”

If so, Miguel Angel Jimenez became the oldest player to contest a Ryder Cup by beating Ted Ray than 50 years, two months and five days old was present at the inaugural 1927 edition .

McGinley , who was Vice-Captain with Jimenez in the miracle at Medinah in 2012, has said he will appoint his assistants until next May or June.
