Tee Times Portugal Holidays: Superbike FIM World Championship at Portimão, Algarve – Portugal from 4th to 6th July ’14
This high-powered 2-wheel event is taking place at the spectacular Algarve International Circuit (Autodromo Internacional do Algarve) in Portimão.
The venue, with a undulating layout which has been described one of the world’s most challenging and exhilarating, has established itself as a firm favourite amongst both fans and riders.
The Superbike World Championship, founded in 1988, has a season that consists of a series of rounds that have two races. Results of each race are combined to determine two annual world championships, one between the riders and one between the bike manufacturers. The only motorbikes used in this championship are tuned versions of bikes available for sale to the public. The participating manufacturers include BMW, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki. This championship is regulated by FIM, the international governing body of motorcycle racing.
