LIV Golf has confirmed the dates of their event at Real Club Valderrama, a popular golf holiday destination in the Costa del Sol, to be June 30 – July 2.

LIV Golf’s inaugural season will feature 14 tournaments across 7 nations, including a return to 5 golf courses that previously held tournaments as part of the 2022 LIV Golf Invitational Series.

Besides Spain, the new LIV Golf will also travel to prestigious golf courses in the UK, the United States, Mexico, Australia, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. Together, these golf courses have held more than 200 professional, college, and amateur events, including big tournaments like the Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup.

Greg Norman, CEO and commissioner of LIV Golf, says, “We got excellent feedback from fans internationally throughout our ‘beta test’ year with a resonating theme: LIV Golf’s team concept, innovations, and festival-like events are creating a unique golf experience”.

“On magnificent golf courses that have hosted some of the world’s greatest championships, it helped set the groundwork for the future of golf last year. For the debut of our league, which will usher in a new era for golf, the LIV Golf schedule boasts magnificent locations and championship sites”, continued.

LIV Golf will feature many of the biggest names in the sport, including Major winners such as Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed, Henrik Stenson, Bubba Watson, Louis Oosthuizen, Graeme McDowell, Martin Kaymer, and Charl Schwartzel.

The LIV Golf League, modelled after the LIV Golf Invitational Series of 2022, will include a brand-new style of golf that features both team and individual competition and culminates in a team championship match, and will not compete with the Majors or international team events.

Portugal Golf Holidays – UNWTO expects 2022 to recover 65% of pre-pandemic tourist volume

UNWTO forecasts for tourism in 2022

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) expects that 2022 will recover 65% of the volume of pre-pandemic tourists, according to the organization’s initial scenarios.

UNWTO projections are based on data through September, during which time international tourism showed good signs of recovery, with arrivals at 63% of the volume recorded in the same period before the pandemic (2019).

After calculating 700 million international tourists in the world from January and September, 133% higher than in 2021, predictions for the remainder of the year are “cautiously optimistic,” suggesting a modest improvement in the final outcome is possible.

The organization found that 340 million overseas travels occurred between July and September, accounting for nearly half of the total for the nine months.

UNWTO predicts that Russia’s offensive in Ukraine, together with other factors such as stubbornly high inflation and rising energy prices, might slow the rate of recovery in the fourth quarter and in 2023.

Despite mounting difficulties that suggest a slower pace of recovery, it is possible that tourism revenues will total between €1.17 billion and €1.26 billion by the end of 2022, an increase of 60% to 70% over the previous year, and a recovery of 70% to 80% of the value registered in 2019 (€1.75 billion).

Portugal and Spain are showing signs of a strong recovery and both are starting to reach the numbers obtained in 2019.
