The National Golf Centre has a long run of more than 6,400 meters, reminiscent of the typical British links, without trees, the gentle breezes that affect the game, especially in the evenings and a rough that can raise the level of requirement to the top. Currently, the field has adapted to the level of an amateur who wants to enjoy a day of golf with a magnificent panoramic view of Madrid and its surroundings.
In Madrid, at the first-ever Sustainability, CSR, and Sports Awards, businesses and organisations were honoured for their outstanding contributions to environmental and social sustainability in the context of sports.
Energy storage is one of the most pressing environmental issues of the future years, and it has received particular treatment in this first edition.
Centro Nacional de Golf was presented with the "Sustainability and CSR in golf" honour in recognition of its sustainable initiatives at this event. Jesús Alonso, General Secretary for Science, Technology, Innovation, and University of the Junta de Extremadura presented the award to Gonzaga Escauriaza, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation.
Golf's significant social impact has inspired the Centro Nacional de Golf to align its institutional strategy with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those concerning education, childhood, and the efficient use of energy and resources.
One of its projects is to improve the efficiency and optimization of reclaimed water by reducing irrigation areas between tees and fairways.
The project includes artificial turfing for the practice area, adding five greens and new target spots at various distances. Artificial grass covers 7,000 square meters, lowering recycled water use. The R&A, the world's leading golf authority, has cited this change as an example of innovative, efficient, and responsible water management on golf grounds.

Challenging course with some great holes, lush grassy fairways with good true greens although slightly slower than expected. Well worth a visit. Staff were friendly and helpful.
