Ombria is a fabulous golf course, it is marked well but there are a few holes it could have been marked out better, especially on the front 9, when you go up the mountain to play a par 4 and you are facing a par 3 green. Also when going from the 8th hole to the 9th was quite confusing and time is lost trying to figure out which direction to go. Greens were good. Staff in the club house were very helpful. The only thing that spoilt our day was the torrential rain.

Oustanding new course. Great views, superb condition. Thank goodness for buggies, with some major elevation changes. The village will be excellent when complete. Course ranger could do with chasing people on before 18th tee, when we were approached with one group on green and 2 on the Tee. 4hrs 40 mins for Round, (10 mins behind supposed schedule)

This new course is maturing well. The front 9 are quite tricky, particularly the second hole, and there are some very interesting elevated tees. I think you need to play it quite a few times to understand where to position your ball on the par 5s, and club selection for the par 3s. The back 9 is more open and a little more friendly. Overall a very good addition to the Algarve although a little way out of Vilamoura (30 minute drive).

Really enjoyed this new course. Tricky set up and some difficult holes where course management is critical, particularly in the first nine. Critical to choose the right tees as a few lengthy carries. Some amazing views with elevated tee shots. Whole set up is great, everyone was really welcoming and the food in the bar/restaurant afterwards was lovely.

The course was in excellent condition, greens and bunkers in perfect condition and the front and back nine so different. The buggies were essential as there were lots of up and downs with elevated tees on the front nine. Well organised with transfers to and from the car to the clubhouse and clubs put on the buggy. We will come back here it is different to the other courses around a memorable experience.

I had originally booked a 9.00am tee time and recived a confirmation email. Ten minutes later I received another email stating a 9.20 tee time. I checked with tee times.pt and they confirmed 9.20. Imagine my surprise when we arrived at Ombria reception to have them say no it’s 9.00am. Fortunately we had just enough time to get to the tee, but it confused the caddie master and we didn’t our clubs back for 15minutes. Very pleasant staff everywhere , and the introduction chat on the first tee even included the offer that as the club has no practice facilities, every golfer is allowed a mulligan from the mountain edge that is the first tee. What the starter should have told everyone was it was their duty to repair their pitch marks on the green, as sadly the greens were riddled with them, and I found myself repairing up to 6 on every hole! When will these ‘golfers’ ever learn? There didn’t appear to be any dress code at the club, as I saw two 30 somethings playing in tee shirts, beach shorts and trainers. Is it really asking too much to wear a polo shirt? Our biggest gripe was the completely inadequate course green to tee direction markings, tiny signs placed in the wrong place made us go wrong several times, including at the 8th, where we naturally followed the path up and ended up on the road, which caused the buggy to be locked from going forward, so I ad no choice but to reverse out onto the road and somehow back down to the path, crazy! Having played the 17th, we followed the only route all the way up the same path as the one serving the 10th, and isn’t wide enough for two carts to pass. Eventually arriving at the 18th, perched high up across from the car park ,you are faced with one of the most disappointing closing holes I’ve ever played. Blind dogleg left at just 274m. It’s blind becuase of the trees , and the only way to see the hole was to walk all the way to the front tees and peek round. I’m guessing it’s meant to be a risk or reward hole as the green is drivable , but for goodness sake cut down the trees to allow the view and hole to taken in. Lastly having played the 18th, you have to drive all the way back up the same path, so you are at risk of being hit by the following group s drives. Back at the road, there were NO signs whatsoever showing you the way back to the clubhouse. Overall, it was a visually pleasing course although very short in comparison to most courses.

Would be nice to see GF options on the menu and once the resort is more busy may be opportune to offer food later than 5.00pm. Ombria certainly has the wow factor , the location , valley ,clubhouse and superb opening 9 holes keep the wow factor high , although the back 9 whilst ok was relatively bland compared to the start. Hard to see where the driving range would go, The opening 9 have a strong similarity to Zagaletta nr Marbella , but that continues the wow throughout, including the service and practice facilities

CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THEY ASSIGNESD A COURSE RATING OF 68.6 AND SLOPE 127 WHICH MEANT EVERY PLAYER PLAYED OFF A LESSER HANDICAP THAN NORMAL. THE FIRST TEE SHOT IS VERY DANGEROUS AS PLAYERS ARE APPROACHING ON THE 8TH FAIRWAY VERY CLOSE TO THE FIRST FAIRWAY. THE STARTER TOLD US TO TEE OFF REGARDLESS. (WE DIDN'T). THE FIRST 8 HOLES ARE A MESS OF A DESIGN WITH HOLES VERY CLOSE TOGETHER AND CONFUSING CARTPATHS WITH TRAFFIC IN TWO DIRECTION AT TIMES. HOLE 9 TO 18 MUCH BETTER. CONDITION OF FAIRWAYS AND GREENS WAS EXCELLENT ALL ROUND, BUT SCRUB AREAS ON THE FAR SIDE OF PATHS GAVE NO REAL RELIEF IF YOUR BALL WAS ON THE PATH AT THAT SIDE. BUGGIES HAS NO ICEBOX, NO WATER SUPPLIED AND NO SAND IN DIVOT FILLER. THE FOOD CART WAS PROMPT AND AVAILABLE BUT EXPENSIVE. IN SHORT NOT A SUITABLE COURSE FOR RESORT GOLF, WON'T BE BACK

Probably the most beautiful course I have played . Absolutely stunning course , it's challenging and probably not for the high handicapper. Lots of elevated tees and tricky greens and lots of hard pin placements . This will be a great resort once finished. Only downsides are that they need to sort GPS on buggies ..... on the second we could only drive down the fairway backwards otherwise the buggy stopped and wouldn't allow us to go forwards .... not ideal ???? some of the signage on the front 9 was hard to follow as up and down the hillside which meant we were a little slow. Talking to others that day they had the same issues ! Don't let this deter you though . Restaurant is very pricey for small portions ......

Was excited to play a new course but expectations were not met. Lack of driving range /nets disappointing for the green fee - so you tee off cold. Back nine were OK but still tight and front nine far too narrow and tricked up par threes - as built 9 holes on too small a piece of land. Would not rush back nor would the 2 groups we met whilst playing. Property development looks lovely - modern twist on a traditional hill top village.Just shame about the course

Awesome course set into the spectacular natural beauty of the mountain tops not far from Loule. The front 9 offers a real challenge with its many elevated tee shots including the signature 3rd hole and tricky long sloping greens meaning precision of approach shot is of critical importance to avoid several 3 putt likelihoods! I found this out at my cost! Back 9 a bit more straightforward but equally beautiful. Will definitely be back again

A spectacular course in a spectacular setting in the hills above Loule. The front nine is very challenging with most holes playing along side the river so positional play is key - and a few extra balls recommended. Back nine more straightforward but still very enjoyable. Das einzige Manko derzeit ist das noch nicht eröffnete Clubhaus. -**- Great layout of the course, which is wonderfully embedded in the landscape. The partly short holes are made trickier by various (water) ditches. Fairways ok now at the end of January, greens in very good condition. Some elevated tees are breathtaking, the bunkers well maintained. The only drawback at the moment is the clubhouse, which has not yet opened.

Our bookings are so well administered by TeeTimes.pt that check in at reception for the group was sorted and completed literally in seconds. Paulo the caddymaster and his crew sorting buggies by tee time and servicing our players ferrying bags from the parking area to placing them on the proper buggies and herding our clients to the first tee was such an exceptionally smooth, organized and painless experience that I can't be more thankful for their professionalism. 100% thrilled with the level and quality service once again.

This was my second time playing Ombria, as I played earlier this year during a “soft opening”. The course itself is good.The front nine is the more interesting with a good variety of holes, with water crisscrossing some fairways and some tees raised high up. The back 9 is more open allowing you to open your shoulders. Greens were good and receptive, but unfortunately there were a lot of unrepaired pitch marks, perhaps at checkin and or the starter could reinforce the need to repair these. A lot of the courses provide free pitch mark repairers maybe something Ombria should consider? The course has still yet to acquire a license so there is no bar or food facilities available in the club House or a drinks buggy, however there is a wagon selling drinks/snacks before your round. The course is still to be mapped, so I suggest you carry a range finder otherwise you’ll be guessing quite a lot! I’ve given the course 7, due to lack of facilities and that there is still a considerable amount of building work being undertaken.

Excellent Golf Course and all staff we met were most friendly and helpful. We played back 9 first and I am pleased we did. It is more forgiving than the front 9. If you started on the 1st, as it is so much challenging, you might be a little downhearted by the time you got to hole 10. We would certainly be happy yo play it again. My wife and I play off 23 and 18 but we are now 80! Not sure if buggies are compulsory but it is most certainly NOT a walking course even if we were half our current age.

My new favourite course on the Algarve, one of our group said it's his favourite course ever! A stunning course in a great location far from the madding crowd. Some excellent 'fun' holes on the front nine with big elevation changes, plenty of water - especially on the par 5's, a great holiday course that will be on our calendar every year we come. The greens were in great condition, fast and true. I only hope they maintain this level in the years to come. The service was spot from start to finish...yes the bar does not have the licence for alcohol yet but there's a 'pop-up' van outside selling cans of beer and soft drinks in the meantime. The staff in the Pro-shop could not be more helpful, excellent.

This is a very nice new course. I started very early with the sun starting a nice day. Greens are fast, even on 8 in the morning. Nice prepared by the greenkeepers. You should play this at least ones when you are in the Algarve.

We spend too much time asking other players for distance estimates. At the very least, they should have many more distance plaques/posts on the fairways. Toilets should also be installed on the course as it’s not practical or always possible to return to the clubhouse. It’s also a pity that the clubhouse is still not open for drinks/coffees.

Very well presented and visually stunning course though in need of side distance markers and not just inset in the middle of some fairways. On and off course signage poor..Golf checkin reception a considerable disstance away from the car park as it is buiilt on a hillside. No refreshment buugy came round as promised. Staff need more training to handle 'groups'. Hole 1 - dangerous as players approach from your left on Hole 8. Hole 18 - a weak finishing hole (Stroke Index 18) that is short and plays away from the Clubouse. A buggy is essential as simply not walkable. In areas the buggy path became quite conjested as you as they weave up the hills on the from nine slowing down play. Worth the €83.00 paid for a game with the Society.

Course layout is very nice but many par 3s. However some are tricky due to elevation changes and might benefit from signs with suggestions (2 clubs down, etc). Wind can be a factor as well, but we played in calm warm weather (perfect). Be prepared to lose balls, and ladies hold your bladder - no restrooms on the course (yet?). The complex is still under construction so there will be a learning curve for services. People we interacted with were very helpful and pleasant. The course layout can be confusing, so look at the map and follow signs. Still a beautiful layout.

very interesting and different golf course for the Algarve. Definitely one that should be on everyone's list to play. Although the clubhouse is not open at this time, the staff do an incredible job catering to the players with the facilities they have at hand. Paulo is an exceptional caddymaster and plays the host role extremely well having an excellent rapport with the players and ensuring players are staged and ready at the first tee. On several occasions our group has shown up at Ombria with up to 36 players and every time its been an absolute pleasure to be greeted and treated to great service from all the staff. Top shelf stuff going on here.

Played Ombria yesterday under “soft opening” conditions. It’s an interesting course. The front nine starts off with two par 5’s and has a stream crisscrossing the fairways in places, so no gentle start to your round. The stream also protects the approach to the greens on a couple of holes as well.Standout hole for me would be the 8th, which has a lake running the length of the fairway. The back nine is water free and fairly open and finishes with a short dog leg left par 4. The tee boxes are interesting and have a numbering system ie 53 rather than the usual red, yellow and white makers. If I remember correctly the numbers relate to the total yard, sorry metres of the course. As this was a soft opening, there were no food and beverages available, however from what we could see, the facilities look to be of a very high standard. The staff were excellent very friendly, especially the starter who gave us an overview of the course etc and we were made to feel very welcome. The pro shop girls were very helpful and “checking in” etc was a breeze. At the time we played, the course had not been mapped, so GPS watches will not find the yardages/metres and layout of the course, so laser finder would be highly recommended and tbh it could do with a few more signs/marker posts as I found it difficult at times to workout where to go! I would say a buggy is also essential as there are some long walks between greens and tees especially 3~4 and 9~10. I played solo with a buggy and had a round time of 2hours 15mins and whilst there were other players on the course we were hard pushed to see anyone else. Would play again once course is mapped and clubhouse is fully operational.
