The Atalaya Old Course was designed by Bernard von Limburger, the 1925 German Golf Championships winner who became his country’s finest golf course architect of the time. With its wide fairways and large elevated greens, this championship golf course provides a challenge to golfers at all levels. Elegant and mature with spectacular views of the magnificent La Concha mountain, it is the perfect oasis of tranquillity on the otherwise bustling and vibrant Costa del Sol. Its apparently benign parkland aspect with gently sloping fairways makes it an ideal golf course for the average club golfer - but plentiful bunkers filled with sparkling ‘marmolina’ sand, fast greens, lush vegetation and fairways lined with olive, pine, cactus and eucalyptus trees prove a challenge for single-figure players as well. (...)
Atalaya New Course offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar and is seen as one of the most natural golf courses on the coast. Created in 1990 by Paul Krings, the New Course is set further inland, but has a similar parkland feel about it - with gently undulating fairways and large, fast greens. It would be fair to say that, in general, hazards are obvious but still manage to trap the unwary. Care is needed off the tees and the wild hitter will soon encounter difficulties.. (...)
El Paraiso Golf course was designed in 1973 by Gary Player and is one of the most established golf courses on the Costa del Sol. Set out in the peaceful El Paraiso valley with the backdrop of the majestic ‘La Concha’ mountain to the north and the sparkling Mediterranean to the south, El Paraiso has the envious reputation of not only providing one of the best championship golf course layouts on the coast, which draws players back time and time again but also being the friendliest international club too. (...)
Los Naranjos Golf was designed by the world famous golf course architect Robert Trent Jones and considered one of his best European golf courses designs. Measuring 6,457 meters from the championship tees, this par 72 golf course features wide fairways, strategically placed obstacles and large and undulating greens. Orangery extensions in the last 9 holes give the golf course is name Los Naranjos. Located in the Valle del Golf, the golf club has hosted several international tournaments and has recently renewed its clubhouse. (...)
La Quinta Golf Course in Marbella, home of the Benahavís Senior Masters and the Spanish Ladies Open, these 27 holes designed by World Champion and Ryder Cup winner, Manuel Piñero make up three nine hole courses which blend into a natural landscape of exceptional beauty. This magnificent golf course is located in the Benahavís Golf Valley and is surrounded by mountains which make the area special as much for its climate as for its environment. The combination of the three golf courses gives the golfer a variety of playing possibilities, with the option of playing the three golf courses in one, the combination of A and B being the tournament course. The A course, San Pedro, is an open course with wide fairways which invite the use of fairway woods and long irons. The B course, Ronda, is a fabulous golf course with narrow fairways and technical greens. The C course, Gaudaiza, with the remodelling of a few years ago now feels much like A course, where the player must use a complete range of shots making it a very enjoyable course. La Quinta Golf Club is home to the European Senior Tour. (...)
Marbella Golf & Country club was designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Senior and opened in 1994. Marbella Golf & Country Club is located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, it occupies one of the largest remaining green areas on the Costa del Sol. The 6.000 meter long 18 hole links golf course, par 72, has been imaginatively designed to respect the natural terrain and make the most of the spectacular Mediterranean backdrop. There are numerous cleverly placed bunkers and lakes which will have to be successfully negotiated if you are to achieve a decent score. The course blends in perfectly with the lush natural surroundings which include rolling green hills and olive trees. (...)
