Quinta do Vale Golf Course is a superb creation of Severiano Ballesteros, that opened in 2008 with the presence of its creator. Taking advantage of the natural valley the Spanish champion designed a three sixes course (6 Par 3, 6 Par 4, 6 Par 5). The front nine flow along the valley with many water obstacles and while the back nine gently go uphill to finish with a short par 4 inf front of the club house. The hole 10 is the signature hole with its famous bunker shaped in S, to remember the name of its creator. It is a course where an average player can play for a very good result, if he respects the course. Being aggressive without mastering the shots, will result in several difficulties, and probably some lost balls inside the water ponds. The 17 and 18 holes will stay in your mind. The north wind is often in play, as the valley makes a natural crossing channel from the hills to the riverside. A great golf course with beautifull views over the Guadiana river.

The fairways in Bermuda grass provide good lies for woods and iron shots. The holes 5, 8, 10, 13 and 18 will stay in the memory, as they will decide a good part of your score. Benamor golf course, certainly allows a pleasant experience for players of every skills.
The 27-hole Castro Marim Golf Course can be considered a gem of the East Algarve. The golf course is built on a mountainous area of schist, and with their Bermuda grass fairways, are always in good condition. The first nine holes (Atlantic) opened in the year 2001, designed by Terry Murray. It has narrow fairways with the 7th hole a par 4 downhill that long hitters try to reach the green. In fact, the fourth hole on the Atlantic Course featured in the book ‘1001 Golf Holes you must play before you die’, edited by Jeff Barr. The 9 holes Guadiana Course as the Par 5 third hole with the tee shot over a lake to a narrow landing zone, followed by a right dogleg uphill. Allowed for 2 extra clubs to reach the green. The 9 holes Grouse course are wider and presents more generous fairways. The hole 5 is a Par 5 with a dogleg to the left protected by a lake. The drive should be well placed, as your second shoot is over a ravine avoiding a water line that defends the green. A nice course with great views due to its high location, perfect for playing whilst on vacation.
The Quinta de Cima Golf Course is a sister course to the neighbouring Quinta da Ria. Opened in 2002, it was designed by Rocky Roquemore as a Championship course. Wide fairways, with well-placed shallow bunkers will demand a reasonable accuracy to get a reasonable result. Olives, almond, carob and orange trees can be seen along the course, but fortunately they not supposed to interfere with your game. The same cannot be said from some ponds and water lines that will call for erratic golf balls. The opening hole a long par 5 with fairway and green bunkers shows immediately what awaits the player. Great finishing holes like the 16th a par 5 where a stream runs across the fairway, 180mt from the green adding pressure to the approach. On the 17th, a par 3, where the tee shot must carry a pond. Finally, the 18th hole where a player has to play over water on 2 occasions, from the tee and on the approach to the green. A trio of finishing holes for stout hearted golfers.
Quinta da Ria Golf Course was designed by Rocky Roquemore, who took advantage of the natural setting of the ancient farm that was in place. Opened in 2002, this course as ocean view from all the holes (except one), and it is one of the most pleasant golf courses in East Algarve. This well-maintained layout presents some challenging golf holes, like the hole 16, a Par 5 that demands accurate shots, as it is a double dogleg surrounded by lakes. The 14, a short Par 4 with the green defended by a lake or 5th hole a par 3 that could be a dogleg to the left or a straight shot, depending on the starting tees of the day, will remain in the mind of a player. The 17th a Par 3 almost an island green, and the 18th a demanding par 4, are two strong holes to finish your round.
Take a moment to appreciate the huge variety of wildlife that inhabit this area.
