Opened in 2006, Silves Golf Course is a hidden gem nestled in the countryside just inland from the coastal resort of Armação de Pêra. This course offers a captivating mix of flat and hilly terrain, with a variety of well-designed holes that challenge golfers of all skill levels. While some holes demand precision and focus, the wide, undulating greens provide ample opportunity for rewarding shots.
One of the standout holes is the 16th, a tricky Par 4 dogleg left that tests even the most seasoned players. Additionally, the 6th hole, a very long Par 5, adds a unique charm as an occasional train runs alongside, adding to the course's distinctive character. Despite the challenges, Silves is a welcoming course for golfers of all standards. It’s particularly friendly for ladies, offering a more enjoyable experience with a 528-meter difference between the red and yellow tees.
The course's allure is further enhanced by its picturesque setting, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside, dotted with palm trees and olive groves. The nearby cork and citrus farms, along with the occasional train, add an authentic Portuguese flavor to your round, making Silves Golf Course not just a game, but a truly memorable experience in a beautiful and serene environment.

This was the first time I had played Silves for several years. The last time, the new clubhouse was just being built. I must say I was surprised and disappointed by how tiny the changing rooms were. I don't suppose they'll do anything about it now they've finished the building, but they should have been much bigger.
I was also surprised and disappointed by the lack of practice facilities. There is no driving range, just a net, and a very small practice putting green.
The course was great though. We thoroughly enjoyed it although there are some steep climbs and a few long walks between greens and tees. I wish I had taken a buggy. The steep climb up the hill to 18th is a killer at the end of a round. I would definitely play Silves again.

Silves course was not. In as good condition as previous times we played there. Fairways and greens were somewhat ‘overused’.

This is much quieter than Gramacho and much more playable. Although Gramacho is a prettier course.
